D.5 Assembling the Program
To assemble an assembly program, press the Build menu and select Assemble, as shown in
Figure D.9. If the program is assembled successfully, the status window will display the corre-
sponding message, as shown in Figure D.10.
After the program is assembled successfully, one is ready to run and debug the program.
The output of the assembly process is an S-record file eg2_13.s19 . The file name has a suf-
fix s19. The S-record format is a common file format defined by Freescale to allow tools from
different vendors to work on the same project.
