In-Depth Information
Within the vicinity of the Camden markets you'll spot hundreds of cheap
shops. Half of them are decidedly tacky and full of t-shirts with ridiculously
unfunny slogans. The other half have a real alternative slant, so take a walk
down Kentish Town Road and Chalk Farm Road to explore the vintage and
original. That includes the Official Doc Martens Book Co , Resurrection
Records , and the nouveau style of Rokit .
£FREE - Angel's cute narrow streets are an attraction in themselves, dec-
orous cafe windows gazing out on terraces and intrigue. With dozens of in-
dependent stores and cafes it's a great place to spend a morning. At its heart
is Camden Passage , a pedestrian street of antique stores and dealers. Beside
Angel Underground Station .
£FREE - Regent's Park provides an idyllic escape from the roads of ex-
haust fumes, especially the 12,000 roses that fragrantly scent the Queen

Elsewhere in the park is perfect for a picnic and chance to rest the feet.
£FREE - Wander up Primrose Hill for enviable views of the city, the
skyline evocatively marked with skyscrapers and stretching beyond the
Thames. In the surrounding area you'll find dozens of cute cafes.
Uncovered Experiences
£FREE - The British Library is stuffed with literary memories, from the
original Magna Carta (the UK equivalent of the Constitution) to early hand-
written drafts of The Beatles and other huge musical talents. Look out for
“Strawberry Fields,” drafted on a piece of Lufthansa airplane paper.
£FREE - An atmospheric three hour walk takes you down Regent's Canal
from St Pancreas Train Station, winding past deserted warehouses, conver-
ted industrial units, canal barges, and unorthodox markets. This canal is the
centerpiece of Camden Market and you can stop at Camden Lock (approx.
one hour walk). Or keep walking all the way through Camden, Islington,
and Mile End, until the canal meets the Thames (around three hours).
£FREE - It's believed that Christians have been worshipping behind St Pan-
creas Station for 1700 years. The St Pancreas Old Church and Cemetery
