In-Depth Information
Mayfair and North Central London
Central London's picturesque mix of upmarket townhouses and uber-fancy shopping can be
found in Mayfair and North Central London. It's gloriously grand yet not imposing, and able
to combine classic museum and shopping experiences with scores of alternative experiences.
You can still get tourist crowds, particularly around Mayfair's famed shopping streets, but
they're more widely spaced and there's a more authentic dose of local London to be found.
This section is made up of a few distinctive boroughs. Mayfair is seriously upmarket and
stuffed with boutique and chain shops; Paddington is more residential and features great res-
taurants; and Bloomsbury is a journey into 18 th century London lavishness.
Travel Essentials
Like all Central London it's easy to reach and you've got a huge choice of Underground sta-
tions to choose from. Oxford Circus, Baker Street, Warren Street, and Bond Street, are all
good for visiting Mayfair. Hyde Park and Paddington have their own station, while Euston
and Russell Square serve Bloomsbury. Mayfair is best navigated on foot, although some ex-
periences in North Central London will require an extra Underground ride. Use the ubiquit-
ous public maps for directions.
