Where to drink and party
West End London and Convent Garden feature extortionate bars aimed at tourists. But
Soho is one of London's great night's out, the tightly packed network of streets housing
funky bars, trendy yet cheap restaurants, and the UK's most famous Gay Village. Dotted
amongst are tourist centered rip-offs, but in general, any establishment you enter is going
to have an intimacy and inimitability. Soho is pumping just about 24 hours a day, seven
days a week, and it's particularly full of debauchery at the weekends. The action is intens-
ified around Old Compton Street and Soho Square, excellent starting points for a night out
or explore. Watch out for strangers on the street who recommended and accompany you to
particular bars. Not that we're against making new friends, but Soho has a reputation for
street touts who earn commission on your beer money. Here are a few recommended high-
lights although all of Soho makes for a good night out.

atmospheric pub that's jammed to bursting point at almost all times. It's
quintessentially Soho. 49 Dean Street .
