In-Depth Information
£FREE - If you've ever watched BBC's Planet Earth series then you'll know
the voice of David Attenborough, the luminary who's the face of the Nat-
ural History Museum . Dinosaur fossils, blue whale bones, weird spiders,
traces of human evolution; they've got over 70 million natural specimens to
see. While it can become a little monotonous after a while, the big fossilized
remains are always inspiring.
£FREE - Queen Victoria was the 19 th century ruler when Britain was ex-
tending her colonies to incorporate half the globe. She had high tastes and
her Victoria and Albert Museum is housed in one of the city's most elegant
buildings. Head inside and there's 150 different galleries to explore, each un-
veiling countless pieces of ceramics, furniture, sculptures, jewelry, textiles,
glass, metalwork, and just about every other collectable.
Harrods is like a city in itself, the luxuriant floors dedicated to selling
the very finest you can find. There's even a whole floor of sugary sweets,
hideously expensive but beautifully presented. Owned by Middle Eastern
sheiks and oozing exclusivity, it's become a UK icon. Many people visit and
search for the cheapest thing they can find, just to say they went shopping in
Harrods.
The world's top fashion names fill minimalistic shops in Knightsbridge , the
city's premier street for exclusivity and upper class trend setting. Just going
window shopping is a great experience, as is finding a price tag and exclaim-
ing “how much!!!” If you're really looking to treat someone then this may
be where to come.
Uncovered Experiences
When you see exclusive fashion designers promoting they have a home in
London, that actually means that they have a store in West London. King's
Road is home to a myriad of one-off boutiques and creations from the cat-
walk. It's ultra trendy and favored by the beautiful.
While it may look like a messy ode to native and exotic greenery, the
Chelsea Physic Garden is a unique collection of edible or healing plants.
