in essence created three entities (i.e., customer, employee, and car) with
relationships between the objects where customers rent cars and employ-
ees maintain cars. The final result is that the process diagram is modified
by the data model. The data model is a quality control mechanism that en-
sures that the data used in the organization are in the most logical format.
When that format is assured, data can easily be shared throughout the
organization to improve both coordination and communication between
the essential processes and the support departments on the higher level.
Data can also be easily maintained, thereby ensuring data integrity. It is
the business rules in the activities or processes within the organization
that establish the relationships between the various data objects. As the
