port, about 13km west of town.
GETTING AROUND
By motorcycle taxi
The easiest way to get around is by motorcycle taxi: they charge about
Bs3 for journeys in the town centre, about Bs10 to or from the airport and Bs20 to the river
port.
Motorbike rental
Motorbikes are also available for rent on the plaza, where a basic moped
will cost about Bs8/hr; a 125cc dirt bike about Bs12/hr or Bs140/24hr. You'll need to leave
your passport as a deposit.

The Prefectura building just south of the plaza on Av Ignacio Muiba (Mon-Fri
8am-12.30pm, 2.30-6 pm; 03 4624831). Though this is the main departmental tourist in-
formation office it's far more convenient to use the small, friendly and very helpful office
on Av 6 de Agosto, next to
Hotel Campanario
(same hours; no phone), where you'll find a
decent stack of brochures, maps and flyers on Trinidad and the surrounding area.

Though not a tour operator per se, this small reserve and animal rescue centre or-
ganizes various trips originating in Trinidad and taking in not only the reserve and its small
ceramics museum but also Loma Suárez, a Moxos-built mound that was once the transport
hub of the
Suárez rubber empire
.
The two and three-day options include cabaña accommod-
ation at the reserve. Prices available on request. Volunteers welcome.
