QUIJARRO
By train There are twelve trains (check ferroviariaoriental.com for the latest schedules)
each week to Santa Cruz (officially 13hr 30min-18hr 35min, though delays are common);
the Ferrobus is the quickest and most comfortable service, though also the most expensive.

By bus Several daily buses travel from Quijarro to Santa Cruz (15-24hr), but the train is a
far better option.
CROSSING THE BRAZILIAN BORDER
Via Arroyo Concepción Collective taxis run when full to the Brazilian border at Arroyo
Concepción from the train stations in Quijarro (around 2km) and Puerto Suárez (around
10km). To cross the border at Arroyo Concepción, get your passport stamped at the Bolivian
migración office (daily 8am-noon & 2.30-5.30pm), then walk across into Brazil, where tax-
is, motorcycle taxis and regular buses wait to take passengers across the bridge over the Río
Paraguay and on into the city of Corumbá, where you'll need to get an entry stamp from the
Federal Police office at the bus station. If you need a visa, the Brazilian consulate (Mon-Fri
8am-2pm) is two blocks southeast of the plaza on the waterfront in Puerto Suárez. You will
also need a yellow fever certificate to enter Brazil. If you're arriving from Brazil, you should
go straight to the train station to buy a ticket for a train heading east, as these can sell out
quickly.
