SANTA ANA
Alojamiento Santa Ana Close to the main plaza, no phone. There are currently only two
places to stay in Sa nta Ana, and both are very basic. Alojamiento Santa Ana is marginally the
most comfortable. Bs60
SAN JOSÉ DE CHIQUITOS
Hotel Denisse Four blocks east of the plaza on Géricke 03 9722230. An economical

Hotel Turobo On the west side of the plaza opposite the church 03 9372037. The clean
and comfortable Hotel Turobo is the best bet in town, offeri ng bo th simple rooms with fans
and more expensive options with private bathrooms and a/c. Bs100
EATING
Most restaurants are open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner; getting a decent meal on
Sundays, however, can be tricky - hotels are generally the best places to try.
SAN JAVIER
El Ganadero On the main plaza. This centrally located restaurant serves the best steaks in
town, as well as a few milanesas (thin breaded steaks) and chicken dishes, and a set lunch.
Mains Bs20-40.
CONCEPCIÓN
Alpina On the southwest corner of the plaza. A good place to escape the heat, this ice cream
parlour offers decent sundaes (Bs10-20), as well as coffee, cold drinks and snacks.
Buen Gusto On the north side of the plaza. One of the town's top restaurants, Buen Gusto
specializes in traditional Bolivian cuisine, serving hearty soups, stews and chicken and beef
main courses (Bs20-40) in a shaded courtyard filled with plants and local crafts.
Club Social Ñuflo de Chavez On the west side of the plaza. Another good choice, with
views of the church, Club Social Ñuflo de Chavez has a range of sizeable set lunches and
dinners (around Bs20-25) - the steaks are particularly good.
ASCENSIÓN DE GURAYOS
As you head towards the main plaza from the bus station there are various cafés and restaur-
ants serving fried chicken and milanesas .
SAN IGNACIO DE VELASCO
Providencia Chiquitania On the southwest corner of the plaza. Serves good coffee and
fresh juices (Bs10-15), snacks like burgers, empanadas and sonso (fried balls of cheese and
manioc flour) and mains like steak and milanesas .
