Museo Archeológico
A block north and two blocks east of the plaza on Bolívar • Mon-Sat 8.30am-noon & 2-6pm, Sun 8.30am-4pm
• Bs5 or free with an El Fuerte entry ticket
The Museo Archeológico has a small collection of archeological finds from across Bolivia,
including some beautiful Inca ceremonial chicha -drinking cups known as kerus ; Inca stone
axes and mace heads; and a range of pottery from various different cultures. Disappointingly,
however, there's little on display related to El Fuerte.
Zoológico El Refugio
2km southeast of town on the road to San Juan • Daily 8am-6pm • Bs20
A pleasant walk from the plaza, the Zoológico El Refugio is a refuge for rescued animals,
and has everything from cats and dogs to some very playful monkeys. You can also ride
horses (Bs25/hr or Bs150/day), and there's a small café, camping space and volunteering op-
portunities if you would like to get involved.
