lives up to that, if, in fact, you can find it in the first place. Cloistered within a cul-de-sac and
almost entirely anonymous (no sign), it's essentially a house with a very low-key yet amen-
able staff and a jumble of spotlessly clean, discreet and spacious apartments, accessed by a
beautifullytiledstairwellandidiosyncratically decoratedwithrusticfurniture,hempcurtains,
abstract art and faded French novels. Kitchens are more basic but supplied with butter, jam,
fruit juice and fresh bread every morning. The views are superlative and wi-fi is availa
ble. A
delig
htful alternative to a Sopocachi hotel, though do yourself a favour and take a taxi.

mid-range option with the feel and facilities of an executive level establishment (albeit no
pool or sauna). Housed in a swanky modern building looming over a sunken mock-up of
Tiwanaku's Templete Semi-Subterraneo, the blue and beige-carpeted rooms offer business-
like comfort (with memory foam beds and even a pillow menu) and functionality. Also high-
speed wi-fi
, as well as
inclusive breakfast and one of the best-value almuerzo buffets (Bs22)
in the city.

relatively new tower block represents fair value for money, with clean, brick-walled rooms,
a spacious dining room with wrought-iron chairs and stained glass, and a generally b
right,
functional ambience. Staff are pleasant, there's wi-fi and a buffet breakfast is included.

One of the most accommodating top-range options in La Paz, with
stained glass, big, comfortable and newly refurbished rooms with feather duvets and polished
dark wood furniture. Staff couldn't be more helpful and there's always great music tootling
away in the background, while the dining room is endearingly plush and the kitchen big on
quinoa and healthy food in general; if you have special dietary requirements, there's even a
nutritionist on hand. Moreover, should La Paz
be in the g
rip of a blockade during your stay,
they apparently have ways of getting you out...
