GDP per capita at US$74,882 per annum, followed by Norway $53,433
and the United States at $45,592. Norway performs better than Qatar
on the overall HDI, being the world's top ranked country by virtue of a
combination of its relatively high income with a life expectancy of 80.5
years and a combined gross education enrolment of 98.6. Norway
thereby ranks four places higher on the HDI than on GDP. The United
States records lower scores on life expectancy at 79.1 years and on edu-
cational enrolment (92.4) and, therefore, a lower rank on HDI than on
