In-Depth Information
Rome:
Since its Italy's capital city, Rome is a large, bustling metropolis of sights, sounds, tastes,
and people. Here you'll find ample sightseeing spots, great nightlife, and enough amazing
Italian cuisine to make your mouth water and keep you coming back for more! Once the
cradle of the great Roman Empire, today's Rome is still as important to Europe today as it
once was in that ancient global dynasty. It's located on the Tiber River between the Apen-
nine Mountains and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Called the “Eternal City,” Rome has so much to
offer architecturally, culturally, and politically in today's world much like it did when it was
the base of a vast empire.
Rome is divided into districts. Each one takes on a life of its own and has plenty to offer the
adventurous traveler. They are:
Modern Centre- Here you'll find Piazza della Repubblica,
Trevi Fountain, Castro Pretorio, and a number of hotels, restaurants,
and shops.
Old Rome- This is the Renaissance influenced center of the city
with gorgeous cathedrals, squares, and the famous Pantheon.
Vatican- Vatican City is independent of Rome itself and has
endless sights and religious relics to see. The Vatican Museums are
also here.
Colesseo- This is the heart of ancient Rome. Here you'll find
Capitoline Hill and its museums, the hugely popular Colosseum,
and Markets of Trajan.
