Overview
The Northern region of Italy boasts some spectacular landscapes. Not only that, but it's here
in the Northern region where you'll find Milan, the fashion capital of the world, and Venice,
where you can explore history in one of the world's most romantic settings. On top of all of
the historic cities to see, there's also the amazing Alps, as well as the majestic, picturesque
water vistas along the coasts.
Travel Tip:
When heading for Northern Italy, bypass the busy
Rome International Airport and instead fly directly into Venice or
Milan. This will save you time, especially if you plan to extensively
explore the North. Adequate transportation from the airport is avail-
able to suit your needs as well.
Northern Italy tends to be a bit pricier than the rest of the country and boasts more updated
technology than say, some of the more common farm villages to the south. Be sure to plan
accordingly as far as expenses go so you're able to enjoy your trip to its fullest. Summers
tend to be the busiest time here and the weather can get very hot. If you're looking for a
more subdued getaway, fall and spring see much fewer tourists, and the weather is cooler.
Unless you're planning on going to a ski resort, winter is not typically an ideal time to visit.
Aside from the cold weather and snow, cities such as Venice also experience flooding in the
winter.
Your options really are unlimited when you consider making Northern Italy party of your
Italian itinerary. From the luxurious lakeside getaways, to the eclectic cities, to the towering
cliff-lined seacoast, there's plenty to do and see while in this region. Who says you have to
check out Renaissance paintings or set foot in an ancient cathedral? The beauty of your trip
is that there are no rules when it comes to Italy, especially the Northern Region. So let's kick
