data.retention.regulations.apply.to.your.organization,.as.well.
as.the.likely.location.of.archives.and.storage.of.that.data.
They.will.often.be.involved.with.every.level.of.your.orga-
nization,. assisting. in. the. understanding. of. and. compliance.
with.records.retention.laws..As.such,.they.can.be.important.
allies.both.in.assisting.with.locating.data.and.in.establishing.
policies.and.practices.that.will.make.the.task.of.locating.data.
much.easier.

Inside.or.outside.auditors.are.a.good.resource.for.you..They.
will.have.information.on.the.inancial.structures,.policy.and.
regulatory.compliance,.and.other.issues.that.can.inform.your.
search.for.important.and.relevant.electronic.evidence.
They. are. also. often. aware. of. legal,. ethical,. and. compli-
ance.issues.that.were.dealt.with.in.the.past.or.that.need.to.be.
considered.by.your.organization..They.can.be.a.source.of.very.
good.strategic.guidance.as.you.work.with.your.management.
and.legal.department.on.building.or.preparing.for.litigation.
