comprehensive holistic approach in which regional science, geography and other
spatial disciplines are embedded (see also Goodchild et al.

2.3
. Clearly, such
a conceptual framework is rich in scope and depicts the interfaces between real-
world spatial phenomena and a variety of scientific orientations.
