The
Cloth Cache
panel is where you
activate and store the simulation. You'll
see some familiar controls here: Start and
End frame. When the
Bake
button is
pressed, the simulation runs across the
frame range, and the solution is stored in
the
cache
. The cache is a holding tank
for all kinds of simulation data. While
you might get decent results in real time
for simple cloth simulations with Alt-A,
anything more complex (as well as other
kinds of simulations like fluid) might take
quite a while to calculate. The Bake and
Cloth Cache systems provide a conve-
nient way to store the results.
Figure

shows the
Cloth Cache
panel,
which is common to all simulation types.
You can try pressing the
Bake
button
now. Blender counts the frame range
