controls. Set the Weight property to 0.0 and use the LMB to paint the 0.0 weight onto the mesh. Paint
onto the areas that are deforming too much. As you paint, the mesh will redeform in real time, allowing
you to check your work.
The one important difference to the brush controls for weight painting is the Auto Normalize option. It
is possible to have several bones with 100% influence over the same part of your mesh. While this can work
if you're expecting it, it can lead to surprising results. Enabling Auto Normalize, which I recommend, will
automatically reduce other bones' influence on a mesh when you paint influence for the selected bone.
Note
Take a look at the bottom of the tool shelf for the X-Axis Mirror option. It works with weight paints
too! You might have to do some tweaking after the fact, but for the most part, enabling this option
will allow the custom work you do on one side of your rig to automatically be ported to the other.
Of course, if you're character isn't symmetrical, you shouldn't be using this. But you already knew
that, didn't you?
