Okay, so we've reached the end of the chapter and there's not been so much as a whiff of sea air,
or a pirate ship. Don't worry, the ninjas haven't finally wiped out all the pirates, it's just far
easier for you to understand GML within the familiar context of a game you've already worked
on. We have already taken the first steps toward including our new protagonist in the game and
seen the problems that a larger character can create.
Nonetheless, it's time to start practicing your best pirate voice, as you'll truly earn your
sea-legs in the next chapter by creating a vertical slice of the finished game. A vertical slice
might sound like some kind of strange pirate punishment, but it is actually a reference to a slice
of a cake rather than anything gruesome. Of course, this particular slice of cake contains
sinister skeletons, deadly spear-traps, merciless pirates, and relentless skull-bats, but that's
