Enabling and Disabling
DBMS Options
O
RACLE DBMS options, which were installed by the Universal Installer (OUI) may subsequently
be disabled by running certain
make
commands. This merely applies to UNIX systems and is a
convenient way to dispel the requirement to rerun OUI when additional functionality such as
partitioned tables and indexes are needed some time after the initial installation. The idea is to
install all the options with OUI and to subsequently disable those options that were not licensed.
The
make
commands are also useful for disabling options that were not chosen during the
installation process, but were nonetheless installed by OUI due to a bug. The
make
commands
must be run with
$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib
as the current directory and always take this form:
make -f ins_rdbms.mk
target1
… [
targetN
] ioracle
The placeholders
target1
and
targetN
are
make
targets from Table A-1.
