test is it world wide use which allowed the crea-
tion of a large database of correlations, providing
a general idea about the strength and the relative
density of the soil.
The sPT results on β 1 and β 2 tuffs are presented
in Figures 13 and 14. in all cases the values are
widely scattered but a slightly tendency of increase
in the value of in sPT with depth can be noted. This
aspect is, in most cases, related to the geostatic
stress distribution which, due to these soils' gen-
esis, can be quite irregular.

Table 1 presents a compilation of the expected
parameters values for the different materials stud-
ied. it is based on the available data information
and its interpretation presented above and also in
other studies from literature, and that can be used
for preliminary design purposes.
