14. Concertgebouw
For one of the best listening experiences in the world, visit the Concertgebouw venue. The
Concertgebouw is known the world over for its acoustic excellence as well as being the
home of the premier Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and providing top-tier entertainment
throughout the year.
The concert hall was built in the late 19th century and boasts impressive architecture both
inside and out. If you don't have a chance to catch a concert, there are tours available
throughout the year.
The building holds three halls with the main hall used for grand orchestra while the smaller
halls provide for a more intimate experience and are perfect for recitals and chamber music.
As part of the tour you also get to check out some of the behind-the-scenes action such as a
visit to the little attic above the stages where the microphones are dropped and lifted during
a concert.
