Case 3: a 3 mm Hole
Again there is a large discrepancy between the curves which would suggest that
FloWorks is not a suitable tool for conducting this type of analysis. At this point all
further simulations were stopped.

Software Development
The aim of this project was a fully automated system that could be used by surgeons
to detect anastomotic leaks. This required the development of a software programme
to compare recorded data from a current test a “look up table” and output a “best
guess” based on those comparisons.
A programme which is interacting between sensors, obtained data and users was
developed. The program currently only exists as a development version. Because of
this, the main screen, shown in Fig. 19 , is subdivided into an end-user part “Leak
detection” on the left and another part “Only for Development” on the right-hand
side that is used only for development purposes.
The left part visualises the result of a leakage detecting test. It shows the probable
size of a leak on a scale from 0 to 2 mm and gives information about the location of
the leak through a symbolized intestine profile. It is possible to detect four different
