In short, there are trains from Zamyn-Üüd to Ulaanbaatar at 5.35pm daily, and at
9.25pm on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Departure and arrival times
are based on the summer schedule (May to September) and are subject to slight vari-
ations each year.
The new paved road connecting Zamyn-Üüd and Ulaanbaatar means catching a share
taxi or ride with a trader may be possible.

NATIONAL PARKS OF ÖMNÖGOV
Gurvan Saikhan National Park (2,000,000 hectares; Click here ) A wealth of sand
dunes, canyons, dinosaur fossils and mountainous terrain. Desert wildlife includes
argali sheep, ibexes and snow leopards.
Small Gobi A Strictly Protected Area (1,839,176 hectares) On the border with Ch-
ina, this park includes dunes and saxaul forest. It is the last great bastion of the
khulan(wild ass).

Dalanzadgad

The capital of Ömnögov, Dalanzadgad is a speck of civilisation in the desert, sitting in
the shadow of the mountainous Gurvan Saikhan National Park. You'll find decent hotels
here, with good restaurants and bars so it's not a bad place to recharge before you explore
the region's big draws: the monstrous sand dunes known as Khongoryn Els and the
'Flaming Cliffs' of Bayanzag, both of which are within a day's drive from here.
