In-Depth Information
Like other Gobi aimag capitals, Mandalgov has no great camping spots; the city has no
river and it is flat and dusty. Perhaps walk north of town and find somewhere past Man-
dalin Khar Ovoo or the monastery.

though all the rooms here share the hot showers and only the half-lux and lux rooms have
their own toilets, this is one of the cleaner hotels in town and good value.

Byamba Tseyen, who manages the nearby tree nursery, also opens up her family
home to guests. Accommodation is inside a guest ger, located in the compound of her
home. It's clean, comfortable and comes with a warm welcome and tasty home-cooked
meals. As part of the package, guests are given a tree sapling to plant in the nursery. The
ger only sleeps three, but there is spillover accommodation in a wooden building in the
yard. No shower, and the toilet is in an outhouse. No wi-fi, but you can get online using
the family's computer. To get here, walk west along Kheltsin Gudamj, an extension of
the town's main street, and look for the house number (A 6-13) on your right.
