This camp nearly qualifies as a work of art. Elevated onto wood platforms, the hand-

Meals are served in the airy dining room of the appealing wooden lodge, and you can
partake in massages and steamy sauna sessions in between motorboating, horse riding
and yak riding.

WINDHORSE - PORTABLE GER CAMP
The unique Windhorse Ger Camp ( mongolwindhorse@gmail.com ; per person with 3 meals from
US$100) is an upscale bush camp located in the Darkhad valley. The fact that it's
portable (like a traditional Mongolian ail) means that there's no concrete or per-
manent structures that can scar the landscape, making this camp about as eco-
friendly as you can find.
Although basic in concept, the camp offers first-rate services; it includes a dining
ger, a shower ger and a bathroom tent with chemical toilets. Solar panels provide a
limited energy source. Gourmet cuisine and quality wine can be ordered. Horses
with Western saddles are available to ride and the camp can organise pack trips in-
to the taiga to visit the Tsaatan or across the Saridag mountains to Lake Khövsgöl.
The location of the camp changes from year to year depending on the whims of
its owner. To confirm where it is and to reserve a place, email them way in advance.
