Getting There & Away
Erdenet makes a good stopover en route between Ulaanbaatar and Mörön. You can take
the sleeper train from Ulaanbaatar to Erdenet and catch a shared vehicle to Mörön.
Erdenet-to-Mörön vehicles are typically jam-packed with as many people as they can
hold. It's easier to get a lift from Erdenet than from Bulgan.
BUS, MINIVAN & JEEP
Erdenet's
bus station
is a car park at the foot of the Friendship Monument from which
daily buses depart to Ulaanbaatar's Dragon Avto Vaksal bus stand (T15,000, six hours,
412km) at 10am, 11.30am, 1pm, 2.30pm, 4pm and 5.30pm. Private vans (T15,000) and
shared taxis (T25,000) also depart for Ulaanbaatar when full, and there are also buses to
Darkhan (T10,000, 2½ hours) leaving at 8am and 2pm, as well as vans (T13,000) and
shared taxis (T15,000).
Shared minibuses to Mörön (T25,000, 10 to 15 hours, several weekly around 4pm),
Bulgan (T5000, one hour, two or three times per day) and Tsetserleg (T25,000, seven
hours, three times per week) leave from the
Domog bus stand
in front of the Hypermar-
ket in the southeast part of town.
TRAIN
The train to Ulaanbaatar (via Darkhan) leaves Erdenet at 7.40pm, arriving in UB at
7.05am (hard seat/hard sleeper/soft sleeper T6800/12,300/20,300).
To Darkhan, train 273 (hard seat/soft seat/soft sleeper T4100/7700/12,000, five hours)
arrives at 11.55pm. For Sükhbaatar, change trains in Darkhan.
It's better to queue on the day of, or before, departure at the
train ticket office

in the northeast end of town.
