Mongolian drivers are downright dangerous so riding a bike around town can be hazard-
ous to your health. There are no bike lanes and you should never expect to have right of

BUS
Local public transport is reliable and departures are frequent, but buses can get crowded.
Conductors collect fares (at the time of writing, T500 for a bus or T300 for a trolleybus
for any trip around Ulaanbaatar, including to the airport) and usually have change. Pick-
pockets and bag-slashers occasionally ply their trade on crowded routes. Seal up all
pockets, hold your bag on your chest and be careful when boarding.
The route number is next to the (Cyrillic) destination sign on the front of the trolleybus
or bus. The route is often marked on the side of the bus. For short trips it's just as cheap
to take a taxi, especially for two or more passengers.
Overcrowded green minivans connect the ger suburbs to the fringe of downtown but
are of little use to travellers.
ULAANBAATAR'S MAIN BUS ROUTES
The following destinations can be reached by bus from downtown Ulaanbaatar.

Bayanzürkh Avto Vaksal (Eastern Bus Station)
Take bus 27 or 41, or trolleybus 4
from anywhere on Peace Ave, heading east.
Chinggis Khaan Airport
Take bus 11 or 22 from either Ard Kino or Bayangol Hotel.
Dragon Avto Vaksal (Western Bus Station)
Take bus 23, 26 and 27 from any-
where on Peace Ave, heading west.
East Cross Road
For Intellectual Museum and Kempinski Hotel; take trolleybus 4
east running on Peace Ave, or bus 1 or 27.
