National Academic Drama Theatre

During most of the year, this large, red-hued theatre shows one of a
dozen or so Mongolian-language productions by various playwrights from Mongolia,
Russia and beyond.
Don Quixote
was playing when we last visited. Schedules are
sporadic. You can buy tickets in advance at the booking office, which is inside the small
concrete guardhouse on the right-hand side of the theatre.
On the left-hand side of the theatre, as you approach it from the road, is a door that
leads to a
puppet theatre

State Youth & Children's Theatre

The Tumen Ekh Song & Dance Ensemble at the State Youth & Children's Theatre is the
most popular cultural show in town, featuring traditional singers, dancers and contortion-
ists. It's a great chance to hear
khöömii
(throat singing) and see some fabulous costumes.
You can buy folk-music CDs (T22,000) or a DVD (T30,000) of the show. There is a cafe
and gallery in the traditional-style hall. Enter the western gate of the National Amuse-
ment Park (Children's Park;
