breakfast is included. Because it has secure parking, it's popular among overlanders with
their own motorbike or car. Motorcycles may be available for hire for US$100 to
US$150 a day. The main downside is the isolated location: it's 5km east of Chinggis
Khaan Sq (in the Amgalan district), on the edge of a ger district and just off a busy
boulevard. The nearest landmark is the large, round Catholic Church; the guesthouse is
300m past the church.
Zaluuchuud Hotel

Ulaanbaatar's oldest hotels, the Zaluuchuud (Young People) has seen marginal upgrades
since the Soviet era. Although bland and dated, it does have a quiet location in the
University area. Just don't expect much in the way of service. Most disappointing are the
uncomfortable beds. Well, that and the noise from the nearby karaoke bar. Not all the
rooms are the same size, so you might try asking for an en-suite standard, which includes
a bedroom and a living room with TV. Room No 300 is a good choice.

Opened in 2013, this is the newest upscale hotel in Ulaanbaatar, with a prime
location steps away from Chinggis Khaan Sq with easy access to downtown museums
and theatres. Facilities include a spa, fitness centre, a couple of restaurants, and a lounge
on the 25th floor with epic city views. The 200 guestrooms are tastefully decorated and
come with wi-fi and a work desk. The included breakfast is very good but avoid the me-
diocre grill restaurant on the 3rd floor.

This hotel feels squeezed between other buildings and it's a bit ugly from the out-
side but there are good views from the upper floors. Its best features are its helpful staff,
good-quality wi-fi connection, and central location just a short walk from Chinggis
Khaan Sq. Price includes use of the fitness room. It's a popular place for business travel-
lers and has an in-house Korean restaurant.
