Bronze Age Art
The Altai Mountains are rich in Bronze Age sites, many unmarked and undocumented.
Altai Tavan Bogd National Park has petroglyphs, massive burial mounds and ancient
stone statues of warriors. The rock-art gallery at Tsagaan Sala is one of the most impress-
ive in Central Asia.
Tough Treks
Western Mongolia is ripe for experienced hikers in search of a challenge. Try the lakes in
Altai Tavan Bogd National Park or in the Kharkhiraa Uul region of Uvs.
Kazakh Eagles
Visit Bayan-Ölgii from November to March and you may see Kazakh eagle hunters in
search of prey. A stunning experience, it requires time, patience, a good guide and luck.
