way (lines 2 & 6); map . This bustling warren of stalls is where the Russian expats come en
masse, though there's a refreshing lack of hassle from the vendors. A vast range of (cheap)
goods are on offer, but it's particularly worth picking over for clothes and accessories; take a
close look at the stitching before you hand over your cash. Daily 9.30am-7pm.
Beijing Zoo Market 动物园服装批发市场 , dòngwùyuán fúzhuāng pīfā shìchǎng Xizhim-
enwai Nanlu; Beijing Zoo subway (line 4); map . This giant, hectic indoor market is full of
stalls selling very cheap non-branded clothes, shoes and accessories to locals in the know.
Almost everything has a price tag so you won't have to bargain. Note that there won't be
anything in large sizes. Daily 8am-5pm.
Silk Market 秀水市场 , xìushùǐ shìchǎng Off Jianguomenwai Dajie xiushui.com.cn ;
Yong'anli subway (line 1); map . This huge six-storey mall for tourists has electronics, jew-
ellery and souvenirs, but its main purpose is to profit through flouting international copyright
laws, with hundreds of stalls selling fake designer labels. You'll need to haggle hard. There
are also a few tailors - pick out your material, then bargain, and you can get a suit made in
24hr for 800 or so. It's incredibly busy, attracting over 50,000 visitors a day on weekends,
and vendors are tiresomely pushy. There is a huge toy market on the third floor, a branch of
the Tongrentang Pharmacy on the fourth floor, and a Quanjude roast duck restaurant on the
sixth. Daily 9.30am-9pm.
