Not all time series datasets lead to such surprising and significant discoveries as did the CO
2
data, but time series are extremely useful in revealing interesting patterns and trends in data.
Alternatively, a study of time series may show that the parameter being measured is either
very steady or varies in very irregular ways. Either way, measurements made as a function of
time make these behaviors apparent.
