I discovered this poor creature in a small park/zoo in
Banjarmasin, Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is an illegally-
caged proboscis monkey , known for its large nose.
Given the rapid rate of deforestation in this region, the
proboscis monkey is a threatened species. In another
tiny cage was a baby orangutan that never stopped
crying. Rescue efforts cannot keep up with the illegal
