Representation of a pixel (2D) and a voxel (3D)
spatial resolution of the scan is related to the voxel volume which is dependent on
the field of view, pixel size, and the slice thickness where a greater resolution will
allow better distinction between anatomical structures. The digital representation of
an image can therefore be represented as matrices which are simply in the form of
a 2D or 3D array.
