male phase, the testicular portion is fully differentiated and contains mature
sperm, and the ovary is in a rudimentary state. The opposite scenario is
observed during the female phase. Levels of goby FSHR and LHR transcripts
have been determined as a measure of gene expression in the ovary and
testis during sex change and are expressed as ratio of FSHR and LHR to
GAPDH gene. Expectedly both FSHR and LHR are highly expressed only
in the gonad corresponding to the sexual phase in a typical haremic goby.
