and proposed the very challenging perspective of system radiobiology at the
interface of biology, computer science, and physics. Technology will certainly
continue to evolve at an incredible speed, but the real treasure that has to be
protected is the human network of researchers from all around the world
sharing a common scientifi c tool.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
The work described in this chapter was partly supported by grants from the European
Commission (EGEE, EMBRACE, EUAsiaGrid, EUMedGrid-Support), the French
Ministry of Research (GWENDIA, GINSENG), and the regional authorities (Conseil
R é gional d ' Auvergne, Conseil G é n é ral du Puy - de - D ô me, Conseil G é n é ral de l ' Allier).
The Enabling Grids for E-sciencE (EGEE) project is cofunded by the European
Commission under contract INFSO - RI - 031688. The EMBRACE project is cofunded
by the European Commission under the thematic area “Life sciences, genomics and
biotechnology for health, ” contract number LHSG - CT - 2004 - 512092. Auvergrid is a
project cofunded by CNRS, Conseil Regional d'Auvergne, and the European
Commission. The GWENDIA and GINSENG projects are supported by the French
ministry of Research. EUAsiaGrid (“Towards a common e-Science infrastructure for
the European and Asian Grids”) is a project cofunded by the European Commission
as a Coordinated and Support Action within the 7th Framework Programme (FP7-
INFRA-223791). EUMedGrid-Support is a project cofunded by the European Commi-
ssion as a Coordinated and Support Action within the 7th Framework Programme.
