In-Depth Information
Figure 8.34 shows the relation between input current density
and magnetic ield gradient of Maxwell coils and the magnetic
force as a function of input current density. Different MSPs with
magnetization of 2.5

are deployed to calculate magnetic force at different input current
density. The magnitude of magnetic lux density for Helmholtz
coils must correspond well with the gradient magnetic ield. As the
igure above illustrates, the magnetic force is proportional to input
current density. Compared with Fig. 8.31, it is possible to determine
motion control parameters of MSP. Once the required velocity of
MSP is determined according to the requirement of different motion
occasions, the drag force from hexane can be obtained according to
the blue square line in Fig. 8.31. In order to overcome the drag force,
the magnitude of gradient magnetic ield must be adjusted to an
appropriate value for generating enough magnetic force F M , which
can be obtained in terms of triangle plot line.

Magnetic sugar particles as controllable units are prepared by
an emulsion technique. First, 60 g of -fructose are melted at
120 ° C until a clear yellow liquid is obtained. Then 6 g of magnetic
powder (MQFP-B-20076, Magnequench Inc., Singapore) are added
in the solution to append magnetism. The brown-colored liqueied
