analysis, surgery rehearsal by “virtual surgery” on a computer could
be realized. Although it is desirable to have a rehearsal before an
actual operation by using actual stent and embolization coil, it is
unrealistic considering the cost of endovascular devices and time
for preparing a patient's speciic phantom vascular model. Hence, in
advance of actual survey, virtual surgery by CFD technology makes
it possible to provide further insights into surgery, such as size and
placement of stent and material and volume of the embolization coil.
As a result, virtual surgery technology achieves the optimization of
clinical surgery and contributes to minimally invasive therapies.
