cell bed. If the fluid transit time is much slower than the diffusional time for oxygen, then oxygen is delivered
primarily via diffusion. This leads to a small entrance effect in which the oxygen in the incoming stream is
consumed, while the oxygen concentration over the rest of the cell bed is relatively constant.
