The packing density of the self-assembled, aligned carbon nanotubes can be controlled
through the incubation time.
Lan et al. [52] have reported an approach for vertically aligning multi-wall carbon
nanotubes on diverse substrates treated with polyelectrolyte. The shortened multi-wall
carbon nanotubes were fi rst functionalized with acyl chloride in thionyl chloride (SOCl 2 ).
