Figure 5.5 shows the block diagram of the program developed by LabVIEW whose
processing software, using Equation 5.3, calculated the force applied to the grasped object
and handle, as well as the jaw angle.
To investigate the profile of the load transferred to different materials, several soft mate-
rials were prepared and their softness measured using industrial durometers (for further
information about durometers, refer to Chapter 4). The materials and their corresponding
