code and QR code methods. The methods have the merits that the method
does not require embedding any information about URL into an image. It has
a high rate of a success in print-to-web linking, because the URLs are retrieved
by recognizing the images with image features. Currently as the techniques
to replace the bar code methods for the applications of print-to-web linking
technology using mobile phone camera, the recognition methods may be the
best options. There are also challenging topics for recognition methods before
they reach their matured applications. Topics such as how to increase the rate
of image recognition with less feature data and less computing time remain.
Finally, as the techniques used for the application of print-to-web linking
technology using mobile phone camera, they are still being researched and
developed. Therefore, as previously pointed out, there are still challenging
topics. Looking over the problems that the various proposed methods have
encountered, we found that compared with the technical problems, the per-
formance restrictions of current mobile phones may be the major obstacle
to applications of print-to-web linking technology using a mobile phone cam-
era. The development of mobile phone techniques indicates it will not be a
long time before the commercial application of print-to-web linking technology
using mobile phone camera reaches maturity.
