Figure 9.20 shows the SEM images of the attached human
bone marrow stem cells (hBMSCs) on the Ti specimens after 24 h of
cell culture [112].

The attached hBMSCs exhibit a better spreading appearance
on the anodized I 1 and I 2 specimens compared to the untreated I 0
specimen, which states a positive sign for the biocompatibility of
the anodized nano/submicron-scale TiO 2 network surfaces [112].
The cell proliferation of hBMSCs on the anodized I 1 and I 2 specimens
was signiicantly faster than the untreated I 0 specimen [112]. The
