› In addition to regular market holidays, the tuna auction may close to visitors during
busy periods (such as December and January). Check out the calendar for details
( www.tsukiji-market.or.jp/tukiji_e.htm ).
› The line to register for the tuna auction starts forming before 5am; to make sure you
get in get here by 4.30am (or 4am on Saturdays). Public transportation doesn't start
up early enough, so you'll have to take a taxi or hang out nearby all night.
› Get a map at the Tourist Information Center (TIC; OFFLINE MAP ; 5-2 Tsukiji, Chūō-ku;
8am-2pm) inside the Outer Market.
