3 Nihombashi

The Imperial Palace is the city's symbolic centre, but this bridge, where Chūō-dōri
crosses Nihombashi-gawa (Nihombashi River), is its geographic centre. All dis-
tance was measured from this point during the Edo period. The granite bridge is
guarded with bronze lions, though you could walk past it without noticing, as it's
now in the shadow of the city expressway. (

4 Tokyo Station

Tokyo Station, at the heart of Marunouchi, turns 100 in 2014. The elegant red
brick building was damaged during WWII and hastily rebuilt after. A lengthy
renovation project, completed in 2012, saw it returned to its former height and
glory, and its ornate domes restored. (1-9 Marunouchi, Chiyoda-ku)
5 Mitsubishi Ichigōkan Museum

The Mitsubishi Ichigōkan was the area's first office building, designed in 1894 by
English architect Josiah Conder. The original is long gone but this faithful replica,
housing an art gallery, opened in 2010. Exhibitions cover art - mostly European -

6 Kite Museum
