Getting There
Subway The Ginza Line stops at Asakusa and Tawaramachi. The Asakusa Line
also stops at Asakusa at a separate station south of the Ginza Line, and the Hanzō-
mon Line stops at Oshiage for Tokyo Sky Tree.
Ferry Azuma-bashi is the starting point for Tokyo Cruise water buses heading to
Hama-rikyū Onshi-teien.
The Sights in a Day
Begin your journey through this historic district at Asakusa Station, on
the Ginza Line. Follow the signs to Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate), the
magnificent entrance to the Nakamise-dōri shopping arcade that leads to the
temple Sensō-ji ( Click here ). Spend a few hours exploring the temple, neighbour-
ing Asakusa-jinja ( Click here ) and the alleys that surround the sights.
Stop for a lunch of tempura at Daikokuya ( Click here ), then visit Chingo-
( Click here ), the Traditional Crafts Museum ( Click here ) and, if
you're in the mood for old-school thrills, the amusement park Hanayashiki ( Click
here ) . From here take a taxi or walk - it takes about 25 minutes - to Tokyo Sky
Tree ( Click here ) , across the river. Take the lift from the 4th floor up to the obser-
vatories at 350m for views that stretch as far as the eye can see.
Back on land, head over to the Asahi Sky Room ( Click here ), about a 15
minute walk away, for more views; time your visit for sunset and see the
