Pariya is a favourite lunchtime spot for the local fashion crowd. Food is served
cafeteria-style here: grab a tray and choose a main, salad and side dish. It's not
cheap slop though; typical dishes include avocado and
hijiki
(seaweed) with ses-
ame dressing and curried potato salad with chorizo and egg.

The young, unpretentious chefs here serve up a procession of artful dishes that are
Kyoto-inspired but tweaked for Tokyoites' been-there-done-that tastes. The res-
taurant looks like a cave - even from the street. There's only a counter and a few
tables, so call ahead on weekends. Sitting at the counter is more fun.
