Hanging out in Shimo-Kitazawa
The narrow streets of 'Shimokita' are barely
passable by cars, meaning a streetscape like a
dollhouse version of Tokyo. It's been a favour-
ite haunt for generations of students and
there's a lively street scene all afternoon and
evening, especially on weekends. If hippies -
not bureaucrats - ran Tokyo, the city would
look a lot more like Shimo-Kitazawa.

with Shimo-Kitazawa; the
Odakyū Line connects
Shinjuku with Shimo-
Kitazawa.
