Takkyū
(table tennis) is serious sport in Japan, but this lounge draws a hip young
crowd rather than real players (though some are suprisingly good!). It's in an
apartment building (the one in back) to the right of a parking garage; ring the
doorbell for entry.
( 1-3-13 Kami-Meguro, 2nd fl, Lion House Naka-Meguro; admission ¥500;

LOUNGE

Sip mojitos under wooden rafters in this dim, moody lounge run by custom bicycle
makers Kinfolk. From Naka-Meguro Station, cross Yamate-dōri and the river, then
take the first left. It's a few minutes' walk on the left, up a rickety metal staircase
above a restaurant.

This British pub is a long-time favourite of down-to-earth expats and cosmopolit-
an Japanese. The beer and pub grub are well up to scratch and local bands play
nightly. It has an unlikely location inside a building that looks like adobe decor-
